The Blackstone opened in 1916 and quickly became known as the finest hotel between Chicago and San Francisco. For more than a century, it drew some of the people who helped shape American life: Eleanor Roosevelt, Ginger Rogers, Bob Hope, Jack Benny. John and Jacqueline Kennedy marked their fifth wedding anniversary here. Guests came for the vibrancy of the place and stayed for its welcome, Midwestern hospitality at its very finest.
The Kimpton Cottonwood celebrates its salon heritage, inviting guests to gather, mingle, talk, and enjoy themselves in its historic Fontenelle Tea Room, a conservatory-style space where botanicals shape the experience. We pour by the pot and time each brew to bring out the best in the leaf, and serve it in famille rose porcelain, its eighteenth-century-inspired sprays of peony, chrysanthemum, and garden rose.
